BCCI considered starting IPL early, aiming for fewer matches in summer

New Delhi. BCCI Secretary Debjit Saikia has made an important announcement regarding the upcoming IPL season. He told that from next year this tournament will start around March 10 and will continue till May 15. This will attempt to end the IPL before the peak summer season.

Currently the IPL is played in the months of May-June, which is a period of extreme heat in many parts of the country. In such weather, it becomes challenging for both players and spectators to watch and play the match. Finding a solution to this problem, BCCI is thinking of starting the tournament planning early this time. Debjit Saikia said that with the early start, players will not have to work hard and the level of matches will be better. Also, it will be more comfortable for the spectators to watch the matches in the stadium. The problem of other international cricket series conflicting with this tournament period of IPL can also be reduced. According to BCCI officials, the final decision on these new proposals will be taken in the next meeting of the board. With suitable weather in the early months of the season, players will be able to maintain their fitness and deliver high performances in matches. This is expected to increase the popularity and viewership of IPL.

Experts believe that this effort of IPL will not only be beneficial for the cricketing community, but it will also keep in mind the health and safety of the players. Although IPL is the biggest festival of cricket in India, but such steps towards making it better are welcome.

BCCI has made many changes in the last few years regarding the organization of IPL, in which player safety, coordination and spectator convenience have been kept paramount. So far, the decision to start next year’s IPL from March is being considered a big step in this direction.
