No tool can reliably detect AI writing: Open AI Education APAC head

New Delhi. The rapidly growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created new challenges in the field of writing and education. Open AI’s Head of Education, Asia Pacific region, recently shared that it is not possible for any device or software currently on the market to reliably identify AI authorship.
He also noted that identifying AI generated content has become so complex that traditional detection tools are no longer able to effectively accomplish this task. The continuous improvement of the AI model and its human-like language style has made it almost extraordinary.
Experts believe that as AI tools become more sophisticated, examination and other educational institutions will have to adopt new strategies to deal with AI generated content. These strategies could include testing learners’ understanding and creative skills, as well as cognitive assessments.
Open AI’s education head also stressed that the educational system and teachers should sensitize students about the correct and ethical use of AI tools rather than technical solutions. This will maintain the relevance of credible and original writing among students.
Experts also agree that there is a need to increase collaboration between the AI industry and educational institutions, so that effective policies and integrated measures can be developed. These measures will be helpful in understanding and improving AI writing and the difficulties in its identification. In the future, more research and better technical solutions will have to be developed for this, so that transparency and truth are maintained in the education world.
