Sudha Kongara moves Madras High Court to stop the release of ‘Idhayam Murali’ due to payment dispute of ‘Parasakthi’ film

Chennai: Director Sudha Kongara has filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking a stay on the release of her upcoming film ‘Idhayam Murali’. She claims that the move is necessary to recover the outstanding amount of ₹8.39 crore for her previous film ‘Parasakthi’.

According to sources, Sudha Kongara told that she had directed the film ‘Parasakthi’ starring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, for which she is yet to receive proper payment. As part of those legal options, they have approached the court to ensure the recovery of their outstanding amount.

Sources say that the case presented in the court focuses on the fact that the release of ‘Idhayam Murali’ should be put on hold till the outstanding amount is paid as the dispute between the parties concerned in the matter is still to be settled. Sudha Kongara’s lawyers argued that if the payment was not made, it would not only be a violation of her financial interests, but would also be a disregard for the predetermined payment systems in the film industry.

The controversy has raised many questions in the film industry, especially on how seriously the financial agreements between artists and directors are followed. Experts believe that if such disputes become public, it can affect the reputation of the industry and weaken the mutual trust between the participants in the future.

On the other hand, the producer side of ‘Idhayam Murali’ has also given their response and they will respect the court order. They have said that they are willing to resolve the problem by following all the legal procedures.

It remains to be seen how this matter progresses, but for now, this move of Sudha Kongara can start a new discussion regarding financial disputes between directors and producers.

The date of the next hearing will be announced soon and it will be clear whether there will be any temporary stay on the release of ‘Idhayam Murali’ or not. The film industry is keeping an eye on this controversy, as this case could also set an important precedent for the financial exchange of future films.
