Support local artists, says Naga painter Kanato Jimo

Kanato Jimo, a famous painter from Nagaland, recently said in the program ‘Lit for Life Unplugged x Zhouyu Hosts’ that artificial intelligence (AI) often steals the hard work of artists. He also called for supporting local talent on this occasion. This program was organized with the aim of highlighting people’s thinking towards art and creativity.

Kanato Jimo said that in the current digital era, widespread use of AI technology has increased, but despite its increasing popularity, artists are not getting the respect and rights they deserve. He clarified that AI-based tools often take inspiration from artists’ creations and use their style or designs without permission, thereby ignoring their hard work and effort. “It is very important to support local artists as they keep our cultural heritage, creativity and community spirit alive,” he said. This statement of Kanato Jimo created deep sympathy and awareness among the audience present.

At the end of the program, eminent chef of Meghalaya Ahmedaki Lalu hosted a grand dinner, which further enhanced the importance of the program. Chef Lalu showcased the diverse and delicious traditional dishes of Meghalaya, which was appreciated with great enthusiasm by all.

The event not only gave a platform to artists and creative individuals but also provided an opportunity to critically reflect on the digital age and its associated challenges. Many experts and listeners agreed with the need to protect and encourage local artists.

In summary, Kanato Jimo’s message is clear that technology is useful, but it must proceed while respecting artists’ rights and humanitarian efforts. Local communities and art lovers will have to come forward and play a positive role in this direction.

The organizers of the program also assured to take this type of dialogue forward, so that the interests of the artists can be protected and the richness of culture is maintained.
