‘Welcome to the Jungle’ movie review: Akshay Kumar and Johnny Lever try to spruce up a script lost in the jungle

Director Ahmed Khan’s new film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is a meta-comedy that demands complete intellectual commitment from the audience. The jungle-like complications of the story in this film have perhaps troubled the director. The script of the film is full of twists and turns that make it difficult to understand clearly.
While on one hand the story of the film is full of comedy and entertainment, on the other hand its complex and ambiguous script makes it challenging for the readers. Due to the presence of experienced actors like Akshay Kumar and Johnny Lever, some of the weak parts of the film can be handled. His acting provided many such moments where the audience burst out laughing, but overall the dialogue and plot of the film was somewhat lost.
The main issue of ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is that the director did not strike the right balance in the multifaceted and complex nature of the jungle. The film tries to convey many ideas and messages, but their presentation becomes so disjointed and complicated that the audience is unable to connect with the story till the end. This meta-comedy format is challenging for the audience, especially those who expect light entertainment.
The cinematography of the film is good, with some scenes being presented effectively, although they do not provide stability to the story. The music and background score are also of mediocre quality, unable to add to the overall emotional depth of the film.
Ultimately, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is an experience for director Ahmed Khan that forces the audience to think more, but this thinking is so complex that it becomes difficult for the general audience to understand it. Overall, the film reflects the efforts of the talented cast, but due to the weak script and direction the film does not reach its full potential.
